Our family visited Simmons Farm in the early days of summer, and we had a blast. We were able to pick fresh flowers and pick up several types of produce for meals. I’ve been visiting Simmons Farm since I was 8 years old for various events such as pumpkin picking, egg hunts, and hayrides with bonfires.\u00a0<\/p>

Simmons farm offers a variety of local produce, honey, and plants for purchase. Simmons Farm has been around for over 100 years in the Pittsburgh, PA area.<\/p>

This farm is family-friendly with events running in all seasons. They offer hayrides, nighttime bonfires, pick your own produce options, flower picking, egg hunts, Christmas tree selections, and even event venues for weddings and birthday parties.\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Bedner's Farm & Greenhouse<\/h4>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Bedner’s Farm & Greenhouse truly offers homegrown happiness. We were FLOORED by the kindness that was offered to our family when we arrived. We felt as if we had known the employees our whole lives. We were able to participate in their pick your own produce and pick your own bouquet. Afterwards, we enjoyed a meal, samples of wine from their winery, live music, and an onsite community market.\u00a0<\/p>

This farm far exceeded our expectations. This farm offers CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) bags of fresh produce available July-December, courses for gardening (for both adults & littles), wine-down Wednesdays, and Farm to Table dinners hosting by the farm.\u00a0<\/p>

We ended up spending an entire day on the farm and we can’t wait to return for their events including pumpkin picking in the fall!\u00a0<\/p>

They are the most family-friendly farm I have ever visited. Check out their site to see the array of services, events, and produce that they offer. (I could type about them forever).\u00a0<\/p>

P.S. They have a winery as well with the BEST wine I have ever tasted. (Including wine slushies!)\u00a0<\/p>

Bedner’s Farm Market is located in the suburbs of Pittsburgh and truly brings the farm to a busy area in town. It is owned by a cousin of those that own the (above) Bedner’s Farm and Greenhouse. Bedner’s Farm Market is a great place to stop for fresh produce, bouquets of flowers, jellies, jams, honey, and freshly churned butter. There is also a large variety of grass-fed\/ pasture- raised beef cuts from a local farm in the market as well. Bedner’s Farm Market also features They have a little bit of everything there! <\/p>\n

When I visited, I was really floored by their staff’s knowledge and advocation for farm to table nutrition. They have several resources for education available at the counter involving recipes and how to support the farm to table movement. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Primrose Farm is nestled in a gorgeous farm landscape outside of Pittsburgh, PA. We went there as a family and it took our breath away. (We can’t wait to see it in the fall!)<\/p>

Primrose Farm features pasture raised chickens, ducks, and quail. It offers eggs from all of these birds too! There are also baked goods and jellies\/jams available on site in a cooler.\u00a0<\/p>

However, you will have to be greeted by a swarm of friendly chickens first. They are TRULY pasture raised and are excellent guards on the property.\u00a0<\/p>

We were able to pick up farm fresh eggs during our visit (with the permission of the chickens of course). Something unique about Primrose Farm is that their products are located all over the Pittsburgh area in various farm markets and restaurants. It is an excellent way to bring farm fresh eggs & chicken to consumers.\u00a0<\/p>
